34th CEC Meeting Kicks off in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State

The 34th Meeting of Chief Executives of Culture of the Federation, otherwise known as the CEC, made up of Federal Directors of Culture, CEOs of Parastatals of the Federal Ministry of Tourism, Culture & National Orientation, and Directors of the State Councils for Arts & Culture and History & Culture Bureau of the 36 States and the FCT, holds in Uyo, capital city of Akwa Ibom State, from Tuesday, 24th – Friday, 27th August, 2010.

A statement signed by the Executive Director/CEO of the National Council for Arts & Culture, Mr. M. M. Maidugu, stressed the importance of the meeting for delegates to follow up crucial issues raised at the previous meeting held in Makurdi, Benue State, between 9th – 12th March, 2010.

The meeting is holding in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, where NAFEST 2010 is expected to take place. The agenda include discussing and adopting the Syllabus of NAFEST 2010, inspection of venues and facilities, and strategies for dynamic administration of culture.

The Meeting is expected to be declared opened by the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Chief Godswill Akpabio, on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 10.30am.

The Executive Secretary of National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, will lead the NICO team to the meeting.
