The Coordinator, North-East Zonal Head office of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) in Yola, Adamawa State, Mallam Ismaila Ahmad, has been nominated member of the Management Committee of the ECO-Museum, Hong, in Adamawa State.
A letter from the National Commission for Museums and Monuments, Yola, Adamawa State, dated July 7, 2010, which communicated the NICO Coordinator’s membership reads in part: “I have been directed to identify reputable and knowledgeable personalities within the catchment area of the Eco Museum to form a Management Committee with a view to sustain the rich Cultural Heritage of the Kilba Community and the environs….”
“Find attached herewith, list of credible candidates identified to form the Management Committee of the ECO-Museum…. Kindly acknowledge the receipt and acceptance of your nomination,” the letter signed by Anthony Sham, Heritage Manager, Sukur World Heritage Site concluded.
Reacting to the development, the Executive Secretary, Dr. Barclays Ayakoroma, described the inclusion of the NICO Zonal Coordinator as recognition of the relevance of NICO in the promotion of culture in the North-East Zone, and Nigeria in general.
The NICO Executive Secretary congratulated Mallam Ismaila Ahmad and urged him to keep his head high above board, and be the worthy ambassador of NICO as he is being identified by virtue of this nomination into the 21-member strong Management Committee.
