NICO Represented At CONGA MOU Signing Ceremony

The official signing of an MOU by the Coalition of Nollywood Guilds and Associations (CONGA), which aims at upholding ethics and professionalism in the movie industry, took place on Thursday August 5, 2010, at the Eko Hotel Suites, Victoria Island Lagos.

Guilds that took part in the MOU signing ceremony include: the Directors’ Guild of Nigeria (DGN), Association of Movie Producers (AMP), the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Nigerian Society of Cinematographers (NSC), Screen Writers Guild of Nigeria (SWGN), Creative Designers’ Guild of Nigeria (CDGN), and the Nigeria Society of Editors (NSE). Others are the Film & Video Producers and Marketers Association of Nigeria (FVPMAN), the Motion Picture Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN), and the Association of Nigerian Theatre Practitioners (ANTP).

The official signing of the MOU was witnessed by many observers, including Chief Segun Olusola, a veteran theatre practitioner, and the Executive Secretary of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Dr Barclays Ayakoroma, an accomplished playwright/film scholar himself, who was one of the Special Guests of Honour, represented by Mr. Ohi Ojo, Assistant Director/Head, Corporate Affairs, Lagos Liaison Office.

It is believed that the epoch event will not only take the movie industry to a higher level, but will also enhance Nigeria’s Culture and Tourism industry, as well as boosting the image of the country all over the world.
