The National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) is poised to partner with the Nigerian Embassy in France to promote Nigerian culture abroad.
This was made known when the Executive Secretary of the Institute, Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy in Paris.
The Executive Secretary had in the course of the visit thanked the Mission for their hospitality. He said the indigenous language programme and the promotion of Nigerian dress culture, among others, are part of his administration’s policy of fulfilling the Institute’s mandate.
Dr. Ayakoroma called for close collaboration between NICO and the mission, as part of achieving effective Nigeria’s cultural diplomacy abroad, especially in the area of the indigenous language programme.
In his response, the Head of Chancery at the Embassy, His Excellency Tanko Suleiman, who received the NICO boss and his entourage on behalf of Nigerian Ambassador to France, congratulated Dr. Ayakoroma for his well desired appointment and pledged the mission’s desire to partner with the Institute in realizing its objectives especially the indigenous language programme.
In order for the Institute to effectively succeed on their task ahead, His Excellency Suleiman advised the Executive Secretary and his team to visit Brazil and Cuba to see how our cultures are preserved. Similarly, he called for a close synergy between the Institute and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On the Executive Secretary’s entourage was the Spec. Asst. to the Executive Secretary, Mr. Ebi Campbell, and Head, South-South Zonal Office, Mr. Michael Ekoko.
