NICO Youth Orientation Seminar Kicks Off In Owerri

A one-day Youth Orientation Seminar comes up on Tuesday, June 29th, 2010, at the Mbari Hall, situated within the premises of the Imo State Arts Council, Owerri, the capital city of the State. The event is organised by the South-East Zonal Office of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Owerri, in collaboration with the Imo State Council for Arts & Culture.

The Programme with the theme, “Culture, the Nigerian Youth And Patriotism,” is targeted mainly at students (youths) in Senior Secondary Schools and Tertiary Institutions.

According to Mrs. Chioma Duru, the South-East Zonal Co-ordinator of NICO, Owerri, Dr. Amanze Obi, the Imo State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, who is the Special Guest of Honour, will declare the workshop open; while Dame Anaga Ononuju, Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs, will deliver the Keynote Address.

Dr. Barclays Ayakoroma, Executive Secretary/CEO, NICO, who is the Special Guest, will lead top Management Staff, including Prince Dele Olusa, Director, Orientation and Cultural Affairs, Mr. Ebi Campbell, SA to the Executive Secretary, and key aids to the event.

The Youth Orientation Seminar is a concept aimed at reviving the dying cultural values in our society, particularly among the youths. It is one of several orientation campaigns by NICO, with the aim of zonal offices reaching out to the grassroots.
