Bayelsa SSG Commends Dr. Ayakoroma

The Secretary to State Government, Bayelsa State, Chief Gideon Ekeuwei, has commended the State Council for Arts & Culture, for their excellent performances within and outside the country in various competitions.

Chief Ekeuwei made the commendation during a meeting with the Director-General, Bureau for Arts & Culture, Mr. Famous Eseduwo, and staff of the Council for Arts & Culture in Yenagoa.

The SSG noted that Bayelsa State has been placed on the World map as a result of the performances of the State Cultural Troupe, pointing out that the State Government is proud of the Troupe.

Chief Ekeuwei said that the Bayelsa State Government was very happy that the former Executive Director of the Council for Arts & Culture, Dr. Barclays Ayakoroma, has been appointed to man a Federal office, as the Executive Secretary of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Abuja, pointing out that it was as a result of his track records in the Council.

He said that Dr. Ayakoroma would not have been outstanding if not for the collective efforts of the staff of the Council, and urged them to keep the flag flying so that the excellent job will not be in vain.

Chief Ekeuwei used the medium to advice that whatever misunderstanding between the Bureau and the Arts Council should be forgotten in order for the Council to continue to move forward.

He also assured that all outstanding allowances owed the Arts Council would be paid in due course.

Meanwhile, the Executive Secretary of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Dr. Barclays Ayakoroma, has expressed appreciation to the Secretary to State Government, Bayelsa State, Chief Gideon Ekeuwei, for publicly acknowledging his modest contributions towards raising the profile of the Bayelsa State Troupe.

Dr. Ayakoroma noted that he would always harbour fond memories about his exploits in Bayelsa Arts Council, saying that he performed his duties with diligence and passion, and his achievements cannot be wished away.

He said that he will not disappoint the government and good people of Bayelsa State in his new assignment, knowing that his performance as Executive Director, Bayelsa Arts Council, gave him the leverage, just as his days as a lecturer in the University of Port Harcourt provided the pedestal for his appointment as the chief executive of the Council.
