NICO Donates I.T. Equipment and Books To NSUK

The drive by the apex Cultural Institute in Nigeria to actualize its mandate of promoting positive cultural values, while harnessing culture for National Development as enunciated in Nigeria’s Cultural Policy is taking a creatively new approach.

This drive, honed on information Technology (I.T.) revolution, with its attendant positive effect in a changing world view on issues with varying and divergent global perspectives – through the World Wide Web (www) – is an irresistible bait for a visionary leader with a mission.

To achieve a sense of cultural re-direction in furtherance of its mandate to meet the challenges of social integration through inter-agency and inter-disciplinary programmes and projects, the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), veers into a new dimension of its orientation campaign with a tinge of taciturnity and style.

Dr. Barclays Ayakoroma, Executive Secretary, on behalf of NICO, donated a set of I.T. equipment comprising of an Acer Video Projector and a large-size white (collapsible-type) screen, with books to the Department of Theatre & Cultural Studies, Nasarawa State University in Keffi.

Dr. Ayakoroma made the donation to Professor Shamsudeen O.O. Amali, OFR, FSONTA, Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, on the occasion of Grand Reception/Gala Night organized by the Society of Nigerian Theatre Artistes (SONTA), in honour of the first Theatre Arts Vice-Chancellor of Nigeria, and first Theatre Arts Professor of Northern extraction!

In the brief presentation ceremony, Dr. Ayakoroma observed that NICO is passionately attached to the Nasarawa State University for the reason of the “Culture” content in the Department’s nomenclature which reads: “Department of Theatre and Cultural Studies”, and hoped that the donation will create the desired impact in the Department and ivory tower in general.

Responding, Professor Amali, thanked the NICO Executive Secretary for identifying with the Nasarawa State University, assuring that this union will breed a mutually benefiting relationship between the two institutions.
